What makes LADO special

Professional performers

The company consists of approximately 40 performers who display the highest level of dance and singing skills.

Virtuoso musicians

The orchestra consists of 14 highly talented musicians who between them can play over 80 traditional instruments.

LADO is 2 in 1 - a folk dance company as well as a world recognized choir

Since every LADO artist is an accomplished and talented dancer and singer this allows for greater performance versatility. As such, the company can present any combination of dance and/or vocal-instrumental concert, and all of these are accompanied by the talented orchestra which has also given stand alone concerts.

Repertoire

LADO has mounted and performed over 100 choreographies which present a wide range of dance, music and song styles, plus they showcase authentic costumes and props.

LADO is a "dancing museum"

Another unique feature of this company is its collection of museum quality costumes, some of which are over a 100 years old. Some of them are embellished with real gold, with vibrant and colourful embroideries, weaving, and trims etc. When worn, the consumes are adorned with the corresponding traditional jewellery which can comprise of a variety of materials from real coral to glass beads to archaic coins.

More than seven decades of appearances on stages across the world

LADO's artists have presented over 5,000 concerts in as many as 48 countries, plus have produced over 30 records and Cds some of which have received major awards and prizes.

Educational activities provided

The company gives master classes and workshops in dance, song and musical traditions and techniques.
